Waste Management and Impact Statement

Waste generated from Avalue's operational activities and production processes mainly comes from product manufacturing, incoming material unpacking, material classification, material sorting, and auxiliary operations. The main types of waste include mixed metal scrap, EPE packaging materials, plastic, paper, and a small amount of hazardous waste. Avalue categorizes, centrally manages, tracks, and legally disposes of waste to minimize the potential impact on the environment and workplace.

In the management of general industrial waste, Avalue categorizes and processes the packaging materials generated after production. EPE packaging materials are centrally recycled and regularly entrusted to qualified recyclers for processing; general paper packaging materials are incorporated into the factory's daily resource recycling process, handled by the factory's recycling management unit daily. General packaging bags, plastic, and paper waste are also sorted and centrally managed according to the factory's garbage classification regulations and then handed over to garbage collection or recycling units for subsequent processing.

In managing hazardous waste, Avalue may generate small quantities of waste with hazardous characteristics during manufacturing and maintenance support activities, such as chemical-contaminated wiping materials, mixed metal scrap, or other items classified as hazardous industrial waste. If such waste is not properly sorted, stored, or transported, it may cause chemical residue, leakage, odors, fire risk, or environmental pollution. Avalue therefore manages hazardous waste separately from general industrial waste and, in accordance with applicable environmental regulations and internal waste-management procedures, controls labeling, consolidation, temporary storage, and transportation records to prevent it from entering general waste streams.

Avalue establishes relevant operational procedures for waste management, with PMC personnel responsible for centralized management and photographic records, and qualified waste recyclers assisting with weight measurements and subsequent disposal operations. After waste treatment, the recycling treatment vendor provides relevant treatment reports and records as the basis for Avalue's waste management, weight statistics, and subsequent improvement. Every six months, the PMC unit compiles waste management information based on the treatment reports and related data provided by qualified waste treatment vendors, providing it to ESG-related personnel as a reference for GRI guidelines disclosure and sustainability report compilation.

In waste management, Avalue follows relevant environmental protection regulations for waste collection and recycling operations and entrusts qualified industrial waste treatment vendors with subsequent processing to ensure compliance with environmental protection regulations and safety management requirements.

The current cooperating disposal treatment vendors are: 宇宣 Industry Co., Ltd. (Industrial Waste Treatment License No. 110 Taoyuan City Industrial Waste Treatment Permit No. 0021).

During the collection process, Avalue records collection dates, waste items, and weight information to enhance waste management transparency and as a basis for subsequent reduction, reuse, and recycling improvements.

In the scope of managing at the source, Avalue manages raw materials, incoming materials, and procurement stages through the GPM Green Product Management System to comply with regulations such as RoHS (the EU Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive) and REACH (the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals Regulation). Avalue also requires suppliers to provide proof of non-use and compliance declarations to ensure that products and raw materials meet international environmental regulations, thereby reducing the risk of harmful substances entering products and processes.

Chemicals used in chemical cleaning during factory production processes were evaluated by the Greenhouse Gas Assessment Committee as having low usage and limited overall environmental impact. Therefore, they were not included in the major statistical scope. However, Avalue still includes these chemicals and their associated waste in routine management, through classification storage, legal disposal, document recording, and supplier compliance management, to ensure that waste flows can be tracked, disposal methods are compliant, and potential impacts on the environment and occupational safety are reduced. 

After comprehensive evaluation, Avalue currently does not generate significant waste environmental impacts from its operations. In the future, Avalue will continue to promote waste reduction, recycling, and employee environmental education to reduce the impact of operational activities on the environment.
