Energy and Resource Utilization Management

Use of Recycled Materials

The packaging materials used in Avalue products are designed with the goal of environmental protection and resource recycling. Currently, EPE (polyethylene foam) and handles are made of 100% recyclable LDPE (low-density polyethylene) material, air cushion bags are made of 40% recyclable RPE (polyethylene), and cardboard boxes are made of 80% recycled pulp. This demonstrates Avalue’s commitment to sustainable packaging and resource recycling. Detailed information is as follows:

Regarding structural materials, Avalue currently incorporates 5% recycled materials in the production of Die Casting parts. However, recycled materials are not yet used in appearance parts and structural parts made of thermoplastic materials. To strengthen resource recycling, the company has set a goal to achieve 20% use of recycled materials in both secondary structures and Die Casting by 2027, actively promoting the sustainable transformation of product materials.

In 2024, Avalue did not experience any product failures or incidents that posed a hazard to consumer health, nor were there any instances of product or packaging material recalls. After the products are shipped to customers, the packaging materials are handled by the customers themselves.

Energy Resource Management

Avalue has established an environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001 and continues to pass third-party (SGS) verification, comprehensively assessing energy usage to grasp energy consumption trends and formulate energy conservation improvement plans. In 2024, Avalue’s energy intensity was 6,509.08 GJ, with electricity being the primary source of consumption, accounting for 100% of total energy. Compared to 2023, the overall energy consumption in 2024 decreased by 3.5%, demonstrating substantial results in Avalue’s promotion of energy conservation and carbon reduction policies. Through concrete actions such as maintaining optimal equipment condition, implementing electricity management, and promoting energy-saving measures, energy usage is effectively reduced. Avalue’s energy consumption over the past three years is shown in the following table:

Energy Saving Achievements

In terms of energy saving achievements, Avalue actively responded to the design principles of the EU ERP 2013/617 specification in the product and service layers, adding “Avalue Design Rules for (EU) ERP 2013/617 Applications” and introducing 6 compliant product models in 2024, achieving an adoption rate of 33.3%. It is expected to be fully introduced to all x86 series products (excluding servers) in 2025. Through design optimization, energy consumption is effectively reduced.

Specific energy-saving designs include: the program development machine automatically shuts down after 4 hours of testing, reducing ineffective machine operation during personnel waiting periods, retaining the screen when the program is abnormal to facilitate reading, and automatically shutting down after testing to reduce manual operation and improve identification efficiency. These measures demonstrate the company’s introduction of energy-saving thinking into the product design stage and achieving energy conservation and carbon reduction goals.

Avalue also plans to retire 532 existing T5 lamps (3 2-foot tubes per lamp) in 2025 and replace them with LED flat lamps, reducing energy consumption by an average of 58.08 degrees per lamp per year, and is expected to save approximately 30,898.56 degrees of electricity annually. The Lide plant's chiller host was also replaced with a variable frequency device (activated for the first time after replacement in October 2024). Upgrading the air conditioning system to variable frequency equipment allows the operating speed to be adjusted according to demand, but because of its characteristics, it is difficult to directly calculate the energy saving benefits, so the difference is compared based on the total electricity consumption of the meter. The electricity consumption after the equipment replacement is approximately 30-40% less than in 2023.
